Life can be good again, but in a different way and only those who have felt such a loss truly “get it.”
Our aim on this cruise is to provide a safe space to navigate the waters of grief with like-minded individuals who understand that while grief doesn't disappear, it can find a comfortable place within us, making life precious in ways we didn't understand before. We'll offer grief support throughout the cruise if you wish to take advantage of it.
There will be optional daily group sessions and one-on-one confidential conversations with one of the HEAL Group facilitators upon request.
The rest of the time, we'll enjoy 6 nights and 7 days of shipboard entertainment, shore excursions, relaxation, and fun. Join us!

Davia is from the Capital District in Upstate New York. She became interested in the field of bereavement when she was a volunteer for Community Hospice of Albany, NY. In 2004, she graduated from the Bereavement Studies program at Maria College in Albany, NY. Subsequently, she accepted a position as Bereavement Services Coordinator for a Funeral Home Business, serving several funeral homes throughout the area. In this capacity, she was able to help grieving families by facilitating support groups, offering individual counseling, and providing community grief education. In 2016, she served on a team to develop a training program for facilitators of bereavement support groups. Davia served as a co-instructor/trainer for the Albany Diocesan Cemeteries Pastoral Care Ministry at an annual three-day training workshop offered to all parishes in the Albany Catholic Diocese of New York. She has been a member of the adjunct faculty at Maria College, and continues to serve the bereaved as an independent Funeral Celebrant and consultant.
Davia resides in St. Petersburg, FL escaping hurricane season, in Blairsville, GA, and Stony Creek, NY.
Currently, she is the Lead Facilitator for the HEAL Grief Support Group.
Richard has spent his entire life in Troy, NY. In 2016, after 44 years of marriage, Richard lost the love of his life, Andrea Lewis Siek. This devastated him and threw him into a deep depression.
Seeking physical, emotional, and spiritual help he sought counsel from physicians, psychologists, priests, friends, and strangers. A strong believer in support groups and being a recovering alcoholic for over 30 years, he found a great deal of help within the Alcoholics Anonymous Program and Church Groups.
He eventually discovered that The Community Hospice offered grief counseling. This provided him with the chance to attend multiple sessions with a Credentialed Grief Counselor, who welcomed him into a small support group of 10 members.
These offerings provided him with the essential guidance and comfort he so urgently sought. THIS was the beginning of the rest of his Life.
Attending support groups with others who had also experienced the loss of a loved one proved to be immensely beneficial for him. It offered a space where he could openly express his grief among individuals who recognized the value of sharing memories, voicing emotions, and exchanging comfort and support.
A couple of years and many support group meetings later, he crossed paths with Ms. Davia Boyle who was starting up a new support group. Recognizing Richard’s leadership skills and passion for helping others she invited him to attend the Albany County Diocese Training for Grief Support Group Facilitators, of which she was the co-developer and co-trainer. With further training and guidance, he became a co-facilitator of the HEAL Grief Support Group.
Richard retired from the US Navy Seabees. During a part of his military career, he earned a Military Credentialed Alcoholism Counselor Certificate and worked in that capacity for several years. In addition, he received training as a NY State Alcoholism Counselor.
Richard volunteers at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY. Over the years he has served in several capacities.
